Cultural Trip to Italy
“The Creator made Italy from designs by Michelangelo.”— Mark Twain
Italy, unlike any other country in Europe or the world, boasts a diverse range of cultural examples, from Greek temples and Roman architecture to the Renaissance splendour of princes and dukes in Florence and Urbino, as well as the grandeur of Baroque Rome of the popes. Rome, with its catacombs, and Ravenna, with early Christian architecture, provide an early representation of visual Christianity. Italy has the few remaining wall paintings as evidence of ancient paintings from the Greco-Roman era. It is unmatched in its diverse influences from civilisations and cultures, and its architecture sets the standard for later ages.
By Csaba
“She had always been fond of history, and here [in Rome] was history in the stones of the street and the atoms of the sunshine.” — Henry James, The Portrait of A Lady
